Pharmacy Resources Flyer
Formulary
A plan formulary is a list of generic and brand-name prescription drugs covered under your health plan. Providence Health Plan is pleased to provide plan members with a comprehensive prescription drug formulary designed to promote safe, effective, and affordable drug therapy.
The formulary categorizes the drugs into tiers. Drugs in the lowest tier cost the least, while drugs in higher tiers, like specialty medications, cost more. All the drugs in your plan formulary are approved based on safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Your plan formulary:
- Is easy to search
- Includes information about the medication
- Includes special considerations about the prescription, if they apply
Participating pharmacies
Our preferred retail pharmacy network allows members to save time and money when getting prescription drugs. With this network, members have access to more than 34,000 participating pharmacy locations nationwide.

-
Retail pharmacies
Retail pharmacies offer services such as filling up to a 30-day supply of prescription drugs, medication counseling, immunizations, and general health information. You can walk in and have your prescriptions filled at a retail pharmacy without the need for an appointment.
-
Preferred retail pharmacies
A preferred retail pharmacy can provide up to a 90-day supply of prescription drugs. In most cases, if you choose a preferred retail pharmacy, you will pay less when filling a 30- to 90-day supply of medication. This is because Providence Health Plan has worked with the pharmacy to lower the cost of medication copays for our members.

Specialty pharmacies
Specialty medications are used to treat complex health conditions that require education, monitoring, and handling instructions and often require approval before they can be prescribed. To make sure you have the information you need, you’ll have access to a dedicated specialty care team. They’ll provide you with extra support, including where to obtain your specialty medication and information on how to get financial assistance (when available).
