In the constantly changing world of healthcare, it's rare to find someone whose career has spanned nearly four decades with the same organization. Meet Susan Solis, a Sales Operations Liaison at Providence Health Plan (PHP), whose remarkable 40-year journey is a testament to dedication, adaptability, and a passion for helping others.
Susan's story with PHP began in April 1985 when she joined as a temporary receptionist. What started as a two-week assignment became a lifelong career. "I became permanent 6 months later as employee number 9," Susan said.
Over the years, Susan's career at PHP has been marked by growth and change. From customer service to account specialist, and finally to her current role as Sales Operations Liaison, which she has held since 2006. "You might think working in the same position for so long might get boring, but it isn't to me," Susan explains. "The job has morphed and changed constantly over the years."
As a Sales Operations Liaison, she manages the HealthEquity relationship, oversees the Carelon EAP partnership, plays a key role in Medicare creditable coverage, among many other things. Susan says her proudest achievement is the relationship she’s built with the HealthEquity partner team. Over the years, Susan has had opportunities to work with other organization’s sales teams, but PHP has always felt like home to her. “The Mission is important to me,” she said.
Susan has been an integral part of PHP's growth story. She remembers celebrating the company's 13th group sale (Multnomah Athletic Club) and the 25th (Tektronix). When asked about her longevity at PHP, Susan says, "Providence has always felt like home to me, and the people here are great to work with."
Outside of work, Susan's life is rich with family, hobbies, and cultural experiences. Susan has been married for 35 years to her husband Cuitlahuac (Cuit for short), who she started dating the week she started at PHP. Susan is a proud mother and grandmother.
As Providence Health Plan continues to evolve and grow, dedicated employees like Susan Solis remain its backbone. Her journey shows how passion, adaptability, and a commitment to helping others can lead to a fulfilling, lifelong career in healthcare.
"I was hired for my current role because I was able to connect with the right resources through PHP to help collaborate and find creative solutions to help my team, so that they can serve our members, employer groups, and producer partners even more successfully.”
